International Voluntary Workcamp
"Through Dance to Friendship"

Barlinek. The Cultural Center in Barlinek is now hosting 20 young people from: Germany, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Spain, as well as the members of a local Windmill Theatre (Teatr Wiatrak) on the 6th International Voluntary Workcamp, entitled "Through Dance to Friendship". This enterprise was initiated by One World Association, a Polish section of an International Youth Voluntary Organisation.

As Sylwia Hanff, a choreographer from Warsaw (who is helped in co-coordinating the classes by Marta Zmarzlik from Windmill Theatre and Sasza Kononowa from Russia) says, the idea of organising such a workcamp is fantastic. Workshops on interpretive movement as an element of creative dance, as well as teamwork is difficult for some of the participants. They treat it with enthusiasm though. They don't finish their workshops on the stage, but carry on in Maxi-Music Club where discussions and collective play take place sometimes even till 5 or 6 am.

- "Our purpose is to make people from different nations respect each other. We don't want to carry on with the unfair stereotypes that our grandparents had. We want the world to become normal" - says Kusztar Mamytaliew from Kyrghizia, who has already taken part in a voluntary workcamp organised by Monar.

- "Polish food is too heavy for me, but in general the workcamp is marvelous. I don't sleep at nights anymore, just like the others. I'll get enough sleep when I get back home." - adds Marc Perez Bonaventura (Polky) from Spain.

Atsasa Ferme from Slovenia, Lisa Werelsiep and Particia Konngiesser from Germany, Tanja Sappanen from Finland, Harkoh Wubs from the Netherlands and Aurelle Berland from France also put things so enthusiastically. Young actors from Windmill Theatre are delighted with their friends from the East and West as well. Elżbieta Chudzik, who leads the theatre says that the workcamp was organised with prominent support of Barlinek Voltaries Association. The workcamp takes place during the 13th Theatre Summer in Barlinek.
