INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
International Human Rights Day is being celebrated every
year on the 10th of December, in the anniversary of signing
by UN the General Declaration of Human Rights (1948) by
UN.
Celebration of this day is being organized around the
word, in every place where people are aware of the great
significance of Human Rights, and the necessity of education
in this subject, which enables us to prevent from breaking
the law.
The One Word Association, in cooperation with Amnesty
International Poland (Poznan group) organizes the celebration
of the Human Rights Day every year.
During every action organized by us, you are welcome to
acquaintance yourself with the rights every one is entitled
to, according to the Declaration, as well as with the
examples of breaking them, around the word and in Poland.
There is also an opportunity of getting essential knowledge
about institutions responsible for providing help.
EUROPEAN WEEK AGAINST RACISM
In attempt to treasure in our memory seventy members
of the peace demonstration for equality of rights, that
took place on the 21th of March 1960, in Shaperville in
The Republic of South Africa, who died from police bullets,
UN proclaimed the 21th of March as the International Anti-racism
Day.
Due to the work of many NGOs, the week around the 21th
of March soon became rich in events, which were ment to
convince the public opinion of the nonsense of any signs
of racism.
Joining the campaign led across Europe this time every
year, we would like to invite the citizans of Poznan to
take part in the series of events organized by "The
One World Association".
INTERNATIONAL REFUGEE DAY
Every day, all around the word, people are making difficult
decisions of leaving their homes and countries in the
escape from prosecution. The refugees. There are 22 mlns
of them in the world.
According to the Geneva Convention (1951, signed by 139
countries) "The refugee is a person, who due to justifiable
anxiety about prosecution because of his: race, religion,
nationality, affiliation to a certain social group or
political convictions, is staying outside the borders
of the country, where he belongs to, and can not or does
not want to, because of these anxieties, exercise the
protection of his country."
The Refugee Day is being celebrated on the 20th of June
since 2001.
Organizing the celebration of this day, we want to point
out the problem of emigration. Ask the first person you
meet in the street "who is the refugee?" and
the answers in the majority of examples will be: "Romanian",
"the man, who came over to grow rich", or "
I dont know, I m not interested in it".
Polish society still lacks the knowledge about the people,
who had to escape their country because of the prosecution.
The aim of our action is to educate the citizens of Poznan
in this subject.
